ELLIS WYMS
Through his work with The Wyms Foundation, his mission is to create programs that improve youth health and achievement. In 2018, Ellis launched the standalone nonprofit Athletes for Computer Science (AFCS) to provide coding education and exposure to computer science careers to children in elementary schools.
As someone who grew up in rural Mississippi, he believes each student should have access to educational opportunities that prepare themselves for a 21st century economy and job market. Most importantly, he hopes students gain a pathway and vision for success through our programs. He feels fortunate to find my professional success through the game of football, after playing eight years in the NFL and winning a Super Bowl ring with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
In this next chapter, Ellis is focused on creating a community of professional athletes who can help create enthusiasm around coding and computer science through AFCS, and inspire the next generation to embrace their education so they can dream early.
