WALTER POWELL

Walter Powell Jr. is a St. Louis, Missouri native and a graduate from Murray State University. He was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals in the 6th round of the 2014 NFL Draft. He spent 4 seasons in the NFL playing for the Arizona Cardinals, New York Jets, Oakland Raiders, Buffalo Bills.

Walt has been a real estate entrepreneur since he began his career in the NFL, owning properties in St. Louis where he restored damaged properties and opens them up for retired US Veterans. He actively works with other athletes and entrepreneurs to promote entrepreneurship leadership and financial security to underprivileged communities.

He is also on the board of The Academy 365 that’s creates a safe space that aims to fight the dominant narrative of black men in America. It creates resources and tools to assist young men in establishing a core identity, an elevated level of emotional intelligence, and social awareness. 

In June of 2018, Walt turned down several NFL offers to pursuit his tech start up, “Politiscope”. In doing so he stated, “football was is my passion, but it’s not my purpose.” He is the first NFL player in history to become the founder of a tech startup then named to Forbes 30 under 30 for 2020 in a year.
